The hands are almost at half-past.
Will the clock last
The hour?
A sudden shock
Can stop
The clock
At …
And what of that?
For clocks
Are like flies,
One dies
But the great tick tock
Continues on,
Though one is gone.
The hands are almost at half-past.
Will the clock last
The hour?
A sudden shock
Can stop
The clock
At …
And what of that?
For clocks
Are like flies,
One dies
But the great tick tock
Continues on,
Though one is gone.

A little ditty from Kevin 😉
Thanks for sharing, Jack. Much appreciated.
It’s my pleasure Kevin 😉
Brilliant – does time really exist, would it still exist when the last clock stopped?
Many thanks for your kind words. I think that time is a human concept so, yes it would still exist if all clocks stopped (provided there where humans still living). We have a body clock (as do animals). Prior to the coming of clocks we governed the hours by the sun, when we where hungry etc and if all technology failed I guess we would revert to something similar. Best, Kevin
That’s true.

Your poetry just gets better and better. This is fantastically brilliant!
Many thanks. I really appreciate your wonderful feedback. Best wishes, Kevin
Best wishes to you too Kevin.
I’m very partial to thoughts about time and poetry. All the clocks in the world might stop but time would still continue. No doubt we’d find another way to measure it. Where would we be without our watches! Reliant on our mobiles…. No!
Thanks for your comment. I also am partial to clocks, particularly traditional, chiming timepieces. I agree with you that if all the clocks stopped, we would find another way of measuring time (the good old sun dial springs to mind). Best, Kevin
This poem hit me in the chest. I think this is the best poem I have ever read contrasting death and time and how the world keeps rolling no matter what. I think that’s what hurts the most. Thank you for sharing your talent.
Thank you for commenting. You interpreted my poem just as I intended it to be understood. I am touched that my words moved you so. Kindest regards – Kevin
