Oft Of A Summer’s Day
Oft of a summer’s day
Have I turned away
To write.
I shall go out tomorrow
And forget my words
In the singing of birds.
But when night
Falls, I shall return what I borrow
From my ever present friend
Old Father Time
And my brief rhyme
Shall reach it’s end.
He Was A Poet By Profession
He was a poet by profession.
His confession
Caused the priest to roll his eyes
And look to the skies,
While the devil cleared a place
For another member of the human race.
Some Thoughts On My Writing And On Poetry More Generally
I am linking to a post on “Rhyme”, in which I answer questions regarding my poetry and those writers who have exerted an influence on my work.
I appreciate that some of my readers are already familiar with this article. However, for those who are not, I hope my interview on Rhyme will be of interest to you, https://rhymepoetry.wordpress.com/2017/06/01/interview-with-kevin-morris/
Stay A While
I beg you, stay a while
For I am without guile
And ‘tis no crime
To hide oneself in rhyme
Merry-Go-Round
Most of my poetry is expressed in rhyme. However a few of my poems (perhaps I should say short prose pieces) are written in a form other than rhyme. One such poem/brief prose piece is Merry-Go-Round. You can find a recording of me reading Merry-Go-Round HERE, or below:
